On a Stick.

Oh man.
This weekend was non-stop.
After working the convention all day Friday,
I got home late,
went to bed later,
woke up early, ran the 5k with Meryl (and Ryan and Rebecca!),
and went back to the convention.
I wasn't tattooing Saturday,
but I helped out and stayed busy.

I gave out lots of stickers:

but didn't sell prints very well:

Ben Rettke took "Tattoo of the Day" Saturday,
for a super dope version of Alice in Wonderland's Mad Rabbit.

Sunday I worked the booth solo,
since Todd was home with his daughter,
and Ben went home sick.
I spent 6 hours on this gnome riding a turtle,
and it won "Tattoo of the Day" that night!
That means Identity Tattoo took it home all three nights.

I'm super flattered by those wins,
and grateful for all the help I had at the convention
(especially Meryl),
and for all my rad clients getting tattooed
and entering them in the competitions.

I'm also grateful that it's over now,
and going back to work tomorrow is going to be a relief.
I have some availability before Meryl and I head down to New Orleans,
so let me know if you need a new tattoo in October.

(and yes, the gnome has a panties on a stick)

No Vacancy.

This hammerhead shark went on Matt today.
He also has the fat fish and the homicidal penguin tattoos,
and we have another planned for the MPLS Tattoo Convention in October.
He's really the nicest dude,
but his parents are even nicer.
He got a flat tire driving to Identity Tattoo,
and they came and changed it while he was getting tattooed!
And he even told them not to!
I don't even get it,
that's almost too much good karma for one family.

Speaking of family, the Louderhorn Inn is packed to the rafters.
Meryl's mom has been promoted from guest to Resident Manager,
and her sister Kendra is just beginning her stay with us.
Everyone has a key, a bike, and a map of the city.
And before the end of the week,
Randall comes and joins us all.

We're certainly not messing around this month.
And it doesn't look too much different for August.
I hope you're not planning on visiting this summer,
but if you do, bring a tent.

Cotton, Wood, Glass.

Big plans are being made for the Minneapolis Tattoo Convention.
September 18th - 20th.
Identity Tattoo will be there, rocking a corner booth.
We'll be tattooing, giving away stickers, and having a good time.
A big box of shirts arrived yesterday that I'll be screening up soon, exclusively for the convention.
Guys and girls cuts, 42 shirts in all.
Free to people getting tattooed by me at the show, and for my other clients who are just there for the fun.
As supplies last, of course.

The hours of the show are kinda strange, I'm spending this week figuring out time slots and doing some drawings that need to be made into tattoos that weekend.
If you know you want to get tattooed by me then,
and have a super awesome idea, email me.

I spent a couple more hours painting this last night.
It's not done yet, but I'm getting somewhere.
It's really big, and going up outside.
You'll see.
I have a couple of house paint brushes,
a bucket of white, a bucket of black, a tube of acrylic yellow ochre, and a craft paint bottle of (watery) red.
I had a yellow craft paint, too, but i haven't used it.
Those things will be kites after another couple layers, and I'll be adding a foreground one or two as well.

My mom has dug her stained glass supplies out of the basement.
They haven't been used in 15 years, but we'll be there Wednesday, and Dean K needs a fancy window for the treehouse he's building.
No kidding.
She got a book out of the library and is studying up, Meryl did it a little in high school, and I have a fistful of drawings.
I hope she has lots of earth tone colored glass to choose from.
